Can I choose where I want to have physical therapy?
Yes. The choice of where you receive therapy is always yours. While the majority of our patients come to us by physician referral/recommendation, many clients request to see us due to our strong clinical reputation in the community.
What do I need to bring with me on my first visit?
- Photo ID
- Health Insurance Card(s)
- Referral (if we do not already have it on file)
- Completed Paperwork (if accessed online)
Do you accept my insurance?
We have a full list of insurance companies that we are in network providers with. If your insurance is out of network we can still file with them, but you will be charged according to your insurance company's contracted out of network benefits.
My insurance says I do not need a referral. Why do you require one?
The Missouri State Practice Act requires that we get a referral from every patient for each new problem that we are treating.
How much will physical therapy cost?
This depends on the contractual agreement you have made with your health insurance company. We will contact your insurance company before your first appointment, and we will provide you with a printed copy of the benefits they quote us at your first visit.
What will an initial evaluation consist of?
The initial evaluation is essential to determine the source of your pain or what specifically is limiting your function. The therapist will perform a thorough history as well as physical examination. Based on their findings, the therapist will develop a specific treatment plan. Furthermore, you will be educated on your diagnosis as well as what you can do to assist your healing process.
How long will each appointment last?
- Your initial evaluation with last approximately 45 minutes.
- All follow-up appointments with last 30-45 minutes.
- We do not have any techs or PT assistants, so all treatment sessions with be 1-on-1 with your therapist.
What should I wear to physical therapy? Should I bring "gym attire?"
For your initial evaluation, we recommend you wear loose fitting clothes so you can move freely. In addition, the region of the body that is to be treated needs to be accessible to the therapist.
Will I be with the same therapist for each treatment session?
You will be treated by the same physical therapist who conducted your initial evaluation. However if you are only able to come at selected times/days there may be
scheduling conflicts. In this situation if you are comfortable doing so you may see another therapist. At Modern PT all our therapists have taken the same additional educational
courses. Therefore, the treatment provided is very similar from one therapist to the next.
Modern PT is a teaching clinic. Therefore, we have many physical therapy interns coming each year which may assist the therapist’s treatment. If you do not wish to see an intern please let the therapist or front office know.
Do you have early morning and/or evening appointments?
- We are open Monday - Friday from 7 am - 7 pm.
- Our last appointment of the day starts at 6:15 pm.
